Hello Marianne,

I'm wondering if I didn't receive or accidentally deleted an email with at least some of the requested info. Could you check into that for me?

There are now more than 10,000 Airbnb hosts throughout Arizona and the majority are sharing their homes to earn a little extra money to pay their bills. The typical host in Arizona earned $6,100 last year.

“Governor Ducey sought to make Arizona a sharing economy leader so the state and Arizona residents can receive the full economic benefits of home sharing,” said Laura Spanjian, Airbnb Public Policy Director, Southwest. “We’re glad Airbnb can help welcome a growing number of visitors to Arizona, while generating new revenue for the state and meaningful extra income to help our hosts make ends meet.”

The press release is not dated and refers to Tim Walsh as engineer, NOT Director of Development Services. First I thought he is the son of director Tim Walsh, but at the end of the press release it states that his dad makes cabinets.

He may be a nice guy, but doesn't seem competent to be the director of Development Services. Way too young. In my 30 years of dealing with building officials I found that the young ones were thriving on creating misery and completely lacking common sense.

If this Tim Walsh really is the director of Development Services, I can only hope that he is the exception. We'll see how he responds to my questions.

Civil engineer works to improve county

KINGMAN – Tim Walsh Jr., a civil engineer with Mohave County Public Works, has traveled, but finds “Kingman has always been home.”

Walsh, who was born in Kingman, said he has learned a lot by living in Idaho, Utah, California and Brazil.

“I graduated from Kingman High School in 1996,” he said. “I then went on a two-year mission to Brazil for my church. I learned Portuguese and did a lot of community service. (With the mission) you dedicate two years of your life to serving others. It’s a great experience and you learn quite a bit in the process.”

In 2001, Walsh earned an Associate of Science degree in General Studies and an Associate of Science in Engineering from Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho. By 2004, Walsh had earned a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Engineering in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Utah State University. He is a certified Professional Engineer for the State of Arizona.

“I’ve been with the county since September, 2009,” he said. “Prior to that, I was with Mohave Engineering Associates. I started there in 2002 for a summer job. While I was away at school, I worked part time for them. I worked a couple of summers in a row and then became full time when I graduated.”

Walsh worked on Mohave County before he joined Mohave County.

“I did the civil design work on the Commercial Site Plan for the Mohave County Administration Building starting in 2004,” he said. Tim Walsh Jr.

He handled traffic analysis and design, infrastructure design, hydrology study and design, grading design and environmental design for the County Seat facility at 700 West Beale Street. While at Mohave Engineering, Walsh was involved in the engineering work on the Black Mountain Correctional Facility, American Woodmark, expansion of the Kingman Regional Medical Center Campus, Mohave State Bank, Stockton Airway Center and other commercial and residential projects.

At the Arizona State Prison, “I handled the water and sewer design,” he said, “which involved the water distribution system, the sewage collection system and the reuse water distribution.”

As a civil engineer with Mohave County Public Works, Walsh oversees “a lot of the design reviews that come in from the private sector,” he said. “That includes land development projects such as any new subdivisions or commercial projects. I oversee and review the site plans and” make sure the process continues “of getting them through the system. Customer service is very important to us. We try to keep the citizens who submit plans informed of what we are doing and where their projects are in the system. We don’t want them to have to wait too long on the county while we review their projects, but, at the same time, we have to make sure the projects meet Mohave County Standards. While we do thorough reviews, we want to be right there with them and get things back as quickly as possible.”

Walsh is also involved in overseeing the construction of roadways for the county.

“We look into transportation and corridor planning,” he said. “The City of Kingman has asked us to be on their Kingman Area Transportation Advisor Committee. We participate with the city and ADOT (Arizona Department of Transportation) in our efforts to be proactive in our regional transportation planning.”

Walsh is currently involved in a variety of projects.

“We recently connected the western end of Deer Canyon Road to Hualapai Mountain Road,” he said. “Mohave County Parks and the Road Division really improved the road structure while giving the Parks Department better parking than they had. We are currently working on Dubois Drive off Blake Ranch Road. We are realigning it in order to provide a safer roadway for the residents out there. I’ve been working on a site plan for the Mohave County Sheriff’s facility in Colorado City. We are also working on a culvert that has nearly washed out a couple of times up in the Moccasin area. We have a preliminary design and are working with the Flood Department on getting that replaced.”

Walsh purchased his first home “about a year ago in Walleck Ranch, right behind Home Depot,” he said. “I got married last August to Julie, who moved to Kingman from Los Angeles and works as an office assistant at Bulldog Disposal.”

He has a sister who lives in Las Vegas and is a cosmetologist and three brothers who are currently attending Northern Arizona University.

“One (brother) is a city planning major; another is in medical and another is an accounting major,” he said. “We have all bases covered. We are all involved in sports. Whenever my brothers and sisters are in town, we get the whole family involved. Right now, we play softball.” When that season is over “we will play volleyball; and, after that, we will play basketball.”

Walsh’s parents also live in Kingman.

“My dad was born here,” he said. “My mom has been here since she was five years old. My dad has Kingman Millworks. He does cabinets and countertops. He is a craftsman. Working with him is what got me interested in engineering. I was always building things and figuring out how things work.”

Walsh’s expertise is appreciated in his department.

“Tim brings a wealth of local experience and engineering expertise to Public Works,” Public Works Director Steven Latoski said. “This talented engineer, who holds a master’s degree in civil engineering, consistently displays a real enthusiasm for solving engineering problems and serving the citizens and property owners of Mohave County.”

“I enjoy civil engineering,” he said. “I’ve worked in Kingman in that field for more than seven years. It’s great working for Mohave County in the Engineering Division. We have a lot of bright people working to improve the county wherever we can. Although I’ve lived in Brazil, Idaho, Utah and even Sacramento, Calif., I like it here. Kingman has always been home.”

A pretty good description of Jennifer Jones.

Dear Editor,

Jennifer Esposito-Jones does not deserve to represent us as a State Representative.

Her latest escapade of leaving a threatening voice message for our County Attorney and his Chief Deputy, using the F word shows her lack of class and integrity. This behavior is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to who she really is. She's certainly NOT the sweet little blue eyed all American gal that her campaign photo tries to depict. Instead, take a look at her mugshot and you'll see the REAL Jennifer Esposito-Jones.

Using foul language and gestures comes naturally to her. One of the five times she's been handcuffed and put in the back of a patrol car was for "flipping off" a council member out in public where everyone, including children had to see it.

She tries to come off as a very intelligent, hard working person that's concerned about everyone in our county. Again, just the opposite is true. The fact of the matter is, she is a very cruel and vicious CYBER BULLY. She spends countless hours every day on social media plastering negative posts about her opponents. But even worse, she spends even MORE time attacking private citizens of this county the same way. And when asked if she would continue to spend that many hours on social media if elected her reply was "I'm very good at multi-tasking".

If any person dares to post something negative about Jennifer, she immediately does a background search on them. If she can dig up anything negative about that person, she will post it on every single Facebook page she can think of. Every county or government page will be used to try to discredit whoever dares oppose her. Even if they just support someone she doesn't like, they will be attacked with the same viciousness.

Jennifer has posted people's criminal and civil court records, bankruptcy information, business information, and other personal information that although it is "public information", it would most likely never be known to the masses on Facebook had she not posted it there. She has hurt many people by doing this to them, and has completely destroyed two people's lives and she could care less.

Her disrespect of elderly people who are "snowbirds" here is reprehensible. If they dare ask a question on Facebook they are immediately attacked and she refuses to answer any of their questions because they aren't registered voters in our county. She calls them "trolls" or accuses them of being a "fake profile" on Facebook because her background search didn't come up with enough information about them. These are ELDERLY PEOPLE she is demeaning and attacking. One woman asked a question and Jennifer told another politician buddy of hers, "she's a non resident who can't vote here so just ignore her obsession with our local government". Another elderly snowbird asked Jennifer what she would do differently than the incumbents if elected. Her snide remark was "I'm not wasting my time catering to your particular demands. You are a provocateur, an agitator. Your numerous recent posts do not give any evidence of real concern fo! r the people here. So feel free to get on your broom and go home". I don't know who raised her, but I can tell you that if I EVER spoke to an elderly person that way my mother would swoop down from heaven and snatch me bald-headed!

She also feels she is doing all of us a favor by running in this election. She has two versions of the story of why she is running for the third time after failing to be elected twice before. Her first story was "The only reason I'm running is because I've researched the other candidates and although I wish there was one that was worth supporting, there just isn't. Now she's telling people, "I was asked to run again by numerous people". Of course, she doesn't mention who that might be.

She's commented on Facebook that "I don't need a job and certainly don't want a full time job. I like being retired, however the Legislature is a perfect fit." That lack of enthusiasm and/or work ethic makes her unworthy of the position.

She doesn't play fair and proof of that is how all of her campaign signs have been placed directly in front of Paul Mosely's, within inches' completely blocking his sign from view. Not that I am voting for him, but seriously? That's childish and shows once again she lacks any integrity whatsoever.

Her own supporters have stated on many of her Facebook posts that her negativity won't help her get elected and they have begged her to stop. She not only refuses to do so, she argues with them about it. Do we want someone this vindictive, this cruel, this narcissistic representing us? Beware the wolf in sheep's clothing, folks.

So here’s my email to Tim Walsh, P.E., Director Development Service Department, regarding condemnation of homes built pre 2008 without inspections:

8/28/18

Subject: My neighbor [redacted] condemned house

Dear Mr. Walsh:

As the County failed to honor our requests to let my neighbor live in peace, I am going to take this wherever it needs to go to protect our homes.

Almost all homes in our rural area were built pre 2008, when code compliance and inspections were NOT required.

1) Why does the County have the right to NOW demand code compliance?

2) Where can I find the regulations pertaining to pre 2008 building requirements online?

3) Where can I find the procedures for condemnation and subsequent demolition by the County online?

4) How many structures has the County condemned since 2008?

5) How many structures has the County demolished since 2008?

We'll greatly appreciate your prompt response.

Sincerely,

Christine Baker

Lots of info on suicide and drugs and then we get to food:

...

The healthy living committee has had two meetings so far. They have been working on gathering information for a resource guide including educational classes and support groups. They have also been talking to people in the community about what they would like to see and have begun working on ways to increase interest in walking trail extensions in the area.

One of the biggest challenges this committee said it faces is simply a lack of interest in healthy living. At the events that have been hosted over the years by the Western Arizona Council of Governments, the attendance has just been low.

To combat that, the committee is hoping to host several events. One they suggested would be a chef competition where they give chefs a box of healthy ingredients and have them create something quick and simple so others can emulate it in their homes.

The largest barrier for these three committees is simply participation. Having people from the community who are willing to help, volunteer time and effort is key to these committees going forward.

Discussion on the development of resource guides for all the issues has been tabled for now. While no date has been specifically released, the next quarterly meeting will be held in November.

“We have a real opportunity to make a difference,” Teri Williams, director of communications and marketing at Kingman Regional Medical Center, said to the group.

"One of the biggest challenges this committee said it faces is simply a lack of interest in healthy living."

And exactly WHY would they expect people to have an interest?

MOST people think they are living healthy!

I'd love to see people become more aware, but this article really doesn't do it:

NO LINK TO THE WEBSITE for this -- what is it? County or city committee? No email to contact the reporter?

Now I really understand why there's no interest. I sure would be interested, but I doubt they'll be knocking on my door.

Since new construction came to an almost complete stop since the County required building inspections as of 1/1/2008, almost everybody who owns a real house (as opposed to a mobile home) is at risk of having the County demand compliance with current codes.

Since our supervisor Jean Bishop took no interest in this matter, I see two options:

If my neighbor fails to comply with the County's demand(s), I'm hoping that they will have to go through the courts before the County demolishes his home. At that point he would need an attorney to represent him.

After MONTHS of inspections, my neighbor tearing down outbuildings and the County even telling him that he was good to go (only to later condemn the house) my neighbor has absolutely NO idea what the County wants him to do.

AFTER I got involved, posted at the blog and contacted supervisor Jean Bishop, they finally decided to have Tim Walsh come out to tell my neighbor what he needs to do. At this point my neighbor is too stressed, so it won't happen until late September.

A class action on behalf of all owners of existing homes built pre 2008 without building inspections. We would ask for a DECLARATORY JUDGEMENT stating that the County can not demand code compliance and must leave us alone.

Either way, this type of litigation will be very expensive as I'm not aware of a competent attorney in Mohave County and we would have to look in the Phoenix metro area.

I appreciate any LEGAL info regarding this issue, especially a similar case.

I've looked on the web a bit, but have not found any case similar to this situation, with a county requiring code compliance AFTER issuing permits that do not require inspections or code compliance.

Sadly, the County seems to be determined to put my neighbor into his grave ASAP.

He has been a productive member of society and is a Viet Nam vet. He doesn't bother ANYBODY. Nor is his house a danger to anyone, it's just not pretty.

I had hoped that the County would honor its promise not to inspect our homes (built with permits). But as of now an appointment is scheduled for 9/20 with Tim Walsh, P.E., Director of the Mohave County Development Services Department.

After the meeting he wants to inspect the property and tell my neighbor what he needs to do. The constant stress is seriously impacting my neighbor's health.

Just about every politician is running on the LIBERTY and FREEDOM platform -- what is up with this BS?????

Mohave County is making California look good.

8/18/18 DRAFT

It's comical that I read the ad for the Dolan Springs suicide "awareness" event and I thought it was suicide "prevention."

I was upset that they were giving away hot dogs and selling soda and cookies -- the kind of food I wouldn't touch if I got paid for it.

I became depressed as I was told over and over that "occasional bad food is ok."

As if the people of Dolan Springs ate organic food at home all the time.

Seriously?

But I finally got it -- it's NOT about preventing suicide, it's about making survivors feel better. And I suppose that's ok too, typical Mohave County mediocreness.

And it worked -- I'm very aware now.

A badly needed reality check. 60 years old, my dad just died in January after 10 weeks of hospital torture -- time to start planning for my PEACEFUL death.

I've been obsessed with getting real food to our area since I started the gardening club in 2011.

I've hosted so many food and gardening workshops, but realize now that it's pointless. I've actually been accused of "poisoning" residents with organic food. Only in Mohave County can people be so incredibly stupid.

Since I moved to Meadview in 2000, many of my friends and neighbors died in their 60s, most due to their diets and lifestyles.

Heart attacks, strokes, obesity ...

Many more are suffering from chronic diseases like arthritis, fibromyalgia, allergies ...

ALZHEIMERS / DEMENTIA are preventable and often even reversible through dietary changes. So many people have Alzheimer's already. It's my worst nightmare.

I've watched countless docu-series on how to stay and get well.

It's amazing that there isn't just one way to beat cancer, but we have so many options. However, ALL require organic food and dietary changes. And in the 7 years I've tried to help people change their diets, I'm still the only one who actually did it. What a massive failure!

I tried to eat only GMO free and mostly organic. I take ZERO prescription drugs. I also take NO supplements, not in my budget. [5/1/19: I'm taking ashwagandha, lion's mane and Vitamin C now).

I found out that I had very high blood pressure (200 / 130) after I squished a finger in 2010 and I got it stitched up at KRMC. I've never taken a single blood pressure pill.

But no matter what I do and how healthy I am, eventually I won't be able to work anymore. Even if I should get a few hundred dollars social security, I won't be able to afford organics anymore and I'll get sick like all the people around me.

Or, I might fall and break a hip. Not life threatening for most. I can't pay people to take care of me. I would lose my gardens, my food supply, I'd end up in a crappy place eating crappy food being miserable.

EVERYTHING I have going depends on me being able to walk and work.

I'd rather die with dignity and I'd like to have a doctor put me out of my misery just like we do for our pets.

Almost everybody has compassion for pets and supports euthanasia. When a pet is sick and we can't afford expensive treatment, we put it to sleep.

Old folks on minimal social security already live in old mobiles with leaky roofs and mold. They live off the crappy food at the Family Dollar. They sit in front of the TV most waking hours. There's nothing to do here. Fortunately we have MANY churches in Dolan Springs and Meadview, but if you're not into organized religion, you're out of luck!

Many people here eventually die in their homes, sometimes they're not found for weeks. Joanne, with several kids AND friends at the VFW, wasn't found until her body had decomposed and her cats had died. Joanne and her cats lived and died in a house of filth. When people get old and crazy, nobody wants to help them anymore. Not even her daughter in Las Vegas cared.

And it's only getting worse:

*** When Trump stops the Obamacare subsidy to Arizona, about 700,000 Arizonans will lose their healthcare.

Obamacare is NOT great, but it is obviously better than nothing. I know MANY seniors who cannot pay the Medicare supplemental insurance premium.

ALREADY so many cannot afford to eat organic, they are sick because of the toxic food they eat and because they have NOTHING to do.

I had helped my friend Leo get on food stamps and AHCCCS, but when he got sick, nobody would help.

KRMC killled Leo. I took him to the ER, but they sent him home after a few hours. I called them explaining that he was ill again and should be in a nursing home where they can monitor his vitals. He didn't need a "hospital", he needed a clean place to get well under doctors' supervision. The social worker at KRMC referred him to a Kingman homeless shelter when I told her that he was living in a camper, had diarrhea, no running water, no electricity (in JULY!) and was so weak he could barely make it out of bed.

I STILL don't know what I could / should have done for Leo.

*** Our ultra conservative Mohave County government has absolutely NO interest in improving the lives of the old and poor.

I have to accept this.

The County won't even fix potentially deadly roads.

The health department won't allow locally grown food to be used by restaurants and I can't even donate my organically grown salad and veggies to events at the Dolan Springs Community Hall.

They STRIVE to kill us.

Self help is PROHIBITED and we can't organize food events with the food we grew.

I've done all I could and now I'm 60 years old and I have to focus on working and making money until I'm ready to die.

So I'm going to prepare a petition to Arizona law makers to at least give us the right to die with dignity.

Just like we have a Living Will that restricts what doctors can do to prolong our suffering, we need the right to END our miserable lives when we can't take it anymore.

Committing suicide is not easy.

Many people on opiates save up enough so they can overdose. I'm guessing that at least 20% of all the people who die at home are suicides.

Some couples have agreements to use helium to assist their ill spouse when it's time to go. It's supposed to be painless and is difficult to detect. Life insurance doesn't pay after suicide. But what about the surviving spouse? What if you don't have a spouse?

Personally, I don't like blood and gore, I would like to go to sleep and not wake up. Like our pets.

And my worst nightmare is surviving a suicide attempt. I'd like it to be done "right" with NO chance of waking up in a hospital.

Why not offer a humane death to humans who can no longer support themselves?

It's the Trump / Mohave County spirit. If you can't make it, die!

So many people in Mohave County are completely lacking compassion. Trump loving imbeciles with ZERO empathy.

Compassion is a 4-letter word in Mohave County.

No social services, crappy medical service, crappy food, KRMC kicks traumatized seniors out of the ER in the middle of the night -- the dictionary definition of shit hole.

I really hope that at least they will let us die with dignity and painless to end our suffering.
