About RRMFD Community Integrated Paramedicine:

Since January 2014, the Rio Rico Medical & Fire District has been offering Community Integrated Paramedicine services. RRMFD's program is called CHIPP- Community Healthcare Integrated Paramedicine Program.

What is Community Integrated Paramedicine?

Community Integrated Paramedicine is a locally designed, community-based, collaborative model of care that leverages the skills of paramedics and EMS systems to address care gaps identified through a community-specific needs assessment.

CHIPP aims to:

· Improve health and quality of life of all program Participants  · Increase chronic disease knowledge · Improve medication management · Increase linkage to community resources · Perform home safety scans to prevent falls/other home hazards

CHIPP services are provided at no-cost to community members by a trained team of RRMFD Firefighter/Paramedics and EMTs. Services are provided in-home during a scheduled visit to prevent unnecessary 911 use.

Additional support is provided by pharmacists at the Arizona Poison and Drug Information Center and emergency physicians from Banner University Medical Center– Tucson.

CHIPP is not a replacement for regular care by a primary care provider or other medical specialist; the program is designed as a way to link community members to resources to maintain and improve health.
